The completion of renovation work on the “Topli Dol” and “Praveshki Hanove” tunnels has enhanced traffic safety in compliance with requirements for facilities located on the core TEN-T network, which comprises the EU’s most important international transport links. The “Topli Dol” tunnel is located at the 39th kilometer of the Hemus Motorway, while the “Praveshki Hanove” tunnel is at the 54th kilometer, approximately 1.8 km from the interchange for the town of Pravets. “KMV Road Safety Systems” installed Ottavia-type R4 crash cushions, which absorb vehicle energy and reduce impact force during a collision. H2W4-type road restraint systems were also installed. The installed equipment meets the technical specifications set out in Ordinance RD-02-20-1 (dated April 1, 2024) regarding the conditions, procedures, and requirements for road restraint systems established by the Road Infrastructure Agency. The products were delivered and installed using the company’s own machinery, enabling a rapid response and a short execution timeframe to avoid disrupting heavy traffic during the summer months.
