The strongest road restraint system manufactured in Bulgaria is being installed on the viaduct at km 19 of the Hemus Motorway, near the village of Potop.
The H4bW3-type steel safety barrier—EasyRail 3n plus DS 05 0.75—is designed to contain a heavy goods vehicle with a gross weight of up to 38 tonnes. The system’s optimal working width class W3 (0.8–1.0 m) ensures both vehicle containment on the structure and a moderate level of impact severity for the occupants.
The installation of this road restraint system—unique in Bulgaria—also ensures the safety of the residents of the village of Potop living beneath the structure.
The restraint system is manufactured by KMV Road Safety Systems Ltd. (Pernik).
